Kiplinger’s 2015 Best College Values List Also Gives Strong Marks to Virginia Higher Education

Virginia universities also ranked well on Kiplinger’s annual Best Colleges list, all the more important in the current environment where finding a quality education at an affordable price has become increasingly challenging.

To calculate the rankings, the editors at Kiplinger looked at a number of metrics to determine both quality and value. The list was drawn from more than 1,200 four-year higher education institutions across the U.S.

Quality was measured through admission rates, test scores of incoming freshman, freshman retention, students per faculty and four-year graduation rates.

Value was calculated by looking at the overall cost of education, the amount of need-based and non-need-based aid, the percentage of need met and student debt at graduation.
