Virginia Companies Participate in Winter Germany Technology Expo

In early February, six Virginia companies participated in Winter Germany 2016, a technology exposition series held on the U.S.’s German military bases in Wiesbaden, Ramstein, Stuttgart and Grafenwoehr. This marked the first time VEDP has been involved in the Winter Germany Technology Expo, an annual event for defense contractors. Companies that participated are enrolled in VEDP's Going Global Defense Initiative (GGDI), a program specifically designed to help companies in the defense industry diversify their revenue stream by looking to international markets in light of pending domestic defense cuts.

The purpose of the Technology Expo was for U.S. and NATO forces and partners to see what new technologies are in the marketplace to help them facilitate their missions more effectively. The companies that participated in the Technology Expo included Commonwealth Trading Partners Inc. located in Alexandria, Mission Mobility in Chesapeake, Morphix Technologies based in Virginia Beach, Obera LLC located in Herndon, Optical Cable Corporation based out of Roanoke, and TSSi out of Harrisonburg. Companies not only interfaced with representatives from the U.S. European Combatant Command (EUCOM), but were also able to have dialogue with members of military delegations from NATO member and partner states.
