In an effort to solidify Virginia’s reputation as a national leader in cybersecurity, Governor McAuliffe and VEDP representatives traveled to San Francisco for a marketing mission in early March to attend the largest information and cybersecurity conference in the world, RSA Conference 2016.

“Growing the cybersecurity industry also plays a vital role in my strategy to build a new Virginia economy and mitigate the impact of federal defense cuts,” said Governor McAuliffe. “Meeting job creators and economic decision-makers and telling them the Virginia story in person is critical to bringing new jobs and economic activity to our Commonwealth.”

The Virginia team met with cybersecurity industry representatives from around the world to discuss economic development opportunities and hosted a reception to promote some of the Commonwealth’s greatest strengths—from its food, beverage and tourism assets to the high quality of life and prospective corporate investors.

"Marketing missions are a critical component of Virginia's aggressive and proactive approach to economic development. They provide the best opportunity to personally convince corporate leaders to invest in Virginia and bring jobs back for our citizens," said Governor McAuliffe.
